What's Inside the Free Underwater Pack?

These recordings were made with a hydrophone placed directly in the water, so what you hear is the submerged perspective rather than water heard from the bank.

They were captured at 96 kHz, which leaves room to pitch, stretch and process the material heavily without it falling apart.

This free pack contains 12 stereo underwater recordings, useful for:

Recorded With a Hydrophone

A hydrophone is a microphone designed to work underwater. Because water carries sound differently from air, the result is a dense, close and slightly unreal texture: bubbles read as clicks and pops, a simple flow becomes a wide continuous movement.

Everything here was recorded in stereo at 96 kHz / 24-bit. The high sample rate matters for this kind of material — a lot of the content is fast and transient, and it survives pitching and time-stretching much better than a 48 kHz source.

How to Use Underwater Sounds

Underwater recordings work both literally, as the ambience of a submerged shot, and as raw material for sound design that has nothing to do with water.

UCS Naming and File Organisation

All files follow the Universal Category System, so the category comes first in the file name and these recordings stay sortable inside a larger library.

The pack ships as a single ZIP with a license PDF included.

Frequently asked questions

What is in the free underwater pack?

12 stereo hydrophone recordings: light and small bubbles, gurgles, water flows, torrents, rough waters, submerged waves on a pebble beach and deep calm movements.

What format are the files?

Stereo WAV at 96 kHz / 24-bit, around two minutes each, named with the Universal Category System (UCS), delivered as a single 713 MB ZIP with a license PDF.

Why 96 kHz?

Underwater material is full of fast transients and is often pitched down or stretched in sound design. A 96 kHz source keeps that detail usable after heavy processing.

Can I use these sounds in my projects?

Yes. The pack is royalty-free, so you can use the recordings in films, games, videos, podcasts, music and other creative projects.

Can I use them in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro?

Yes. WAV is read by DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools, Reaper and other professional editors. Audio Tool Kit is not affiliated with those companies.
