Frequently asked questions
- Which sample rates can I convert to?
- 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 and 192 kHz. 48 kHz is the film, TV and broadcast standard, 44.1 kHz is the music and podcast standard.
- Which bit depths are available?
- 16, 24 and 32 bit for WAV, 16 and 24 bit for AIFF. 24 bit is the production standard, 16 bit is for light delivery, 32 bit keeps the maximum headroom.
- Does upsampling improve quality?
- No. Going from 44.1 to 96 kHz only interpolates samples, it adds no detail. Converting down to 48 kHz for a delivery is the common real use case.
- Which input formats are accepted?
- WAV, AIFF, MP3, M4A, FLAC, OGG and Opus. The file is decoded locally and re-encoded to WAV, AIFF or MP3.
- Are my files uploaded?
- No. The conversion runs in your browser and the converted file is written straight to your downloads.
